The workshop entitled “Piezoresponse Force Microscopy of Polar Materials” took place at the University of Aveiro in Portugal on July 26th, 2024.

The workshop covered the synthesis of 2D materials, a range of measurement techniques for studying functional materials, and factors that can affect measurement results. The scope of this workshop was in line with the current trends in the processing of nanomaterials and provided a forum for presenting and discussing new results. Each partner gave presentations about the Piezo2D project activity – details in the workshop program.

The workshop was attended by about 40 people, including project participants and a wider audience (PhD and postdoctoral students from the University of Aveiro, as well as participants of the international BIP-ERASMUS course “Modern Trends in Nanotechnology for Medical Sciences: Research and Applications” organized by the Physics Department of the University of Aveiro, in particular students from the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Poland), Comenius University (Slovakia), University of Valladolid (Spain) and Marmara University (Turkey).

Following the lectures and presentations, training sessions were held, during which participants were introduced to AFM and PFM microscopy and had the opportunity to carry out measurements.

The workshop was complemented with the working dinner, during which an intensive exchange of ideas was continued.
